How to Make Pound Cake

The cake baking territory is one that I have avoided for quite some time, but baking the pound cake opened me to the world of baking. I really enjoyed the process as it is absolutely easy compared with my initial perception. As I normally do, here is my step by step procedure on how to make pound cake.

240g of cake flour (For best result, use cake flour)
200g of granulated white sugar
4 x large eggs
2 teaspoons of pure Vanilla Extract
4 tablespoons Milk
1/4 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon of grated nutmeg
·         Pre-heat your oven so it is hot enough when the cake mixture goes in
·         Rub some butter inside your baking pan. This will prevent the pound cake from sticking to the walls of the baking pan
·         In a mixing bowl, add flour, grated nutmeg, baking powder and salt then mix with a whisk to aerate the mixture
·         Add butter (make sure it is at room temperature), eggs and sugar and whisk the content until it becomes creamy
·         Pour the pound cake mixture into the baking pan and place in the pre-heated oven for circa 1 hour or until you insert a skewer and it comes out clean
·         To prevent the cake from getting burnt at the top, cover the baking pan with foil paper about 35 to 40 minutes into baking


·         Remove the cake from the oven when it is properly baked, allow the pound cake to cool down for 10 minutes and serve
